"Just finished up my second trip to the Anglers Academy, and it was so worth it! Everything I learned last year was reinforced by the same quality instructors, and I felt a little muscle memory being created and hopefully, some old bad habits being shed! I recommend the Academy to men and women alike...you are never too old to keep learning, improving and enjoying the angling lifestyle!" - Laura B., Saratoga, WY
"I’ve only been fishing for four years and have definitely fallen in love with it. I want to be better. But those few years was certainly long enough to create a habit in my cast that is absolutely hindering my ability to reach farther and be more accurate with my casting. I have amazing and I mean amazing fishing humans in my life that I love dearly, but my thick skull could not break down their advice for me with my casting. One hour with the experts at @theanglersacademy and I was already diagnosing my own issues. And the best part. Each and every one of them instilled the confidence in me to believe I could make the adjustment even when I was incredibly frustrated with myself. I’m more confident with my bugs, my knots and my cast and my ability to grow in a sport that will live with me until the end of my days. If you want to take it to the next level these are your people. It’s not every day that you get to learn from some of not only the best in the state or the country, but the world. Many thanks to @johnhudge @johnjuracek @riversideanglers @jonheames @smwchu and the guy behind the camera who still knows his fishing stuff @bryangregsonphotography. I’ll show up on time for class with you all anytime!" - Kate L., Bozeman, MT
"Angler’s Academy was one of the most educational and enjoyable experiences I’ve had so far. Being fairly new to the sport of fly fishing, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect; I was really hoping to get a better understanding of the basics and get a chance to practice my casting, but Angler’s Academy was so much more than that! I was completely blown away by what I gained from this course. The instructors were all phenomenal, each with their own expertise and deep-rooted interests. The course was so thoughtfully designed, and each subject was covered thoroughly. From casting principles and techniques to knot-tying and entomology, I was very impressed with the breadth and depth of the material. There were several less-obvious topics as well, like fishing etiquette, invasive vs. native species, and how to read and approach the water. My classmates and I ranged from beginners to experts, and each day we all remarked on how much we’d learned. It’s so clear that John Hudgens and his fellow instructors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about fly fishing, which made for a highly engaging and interactive atmosphere. This course had the perfect balance of focused classroom time and outdoor practice time, and each day was highly organized and expertly orchestrated. Three days of information was a lot to take in as a beginner, but I never felt overwhelmed or left behind. In fact, when it came to an end, I was already anxious to book my next course! I truly cannot recommend Angler’s Academy enough, especially to life-long learners and those looking to improve their skills." - Shelby T., Denver, Colorado
"John Hudgens assembled a world-class staff of local fly fishing guides and instructors who provided personalized instruction across a wide spectrum of topics. As an angler with over 25 years of experience fishing, I quickly learned that I was doing things all wrong and limiting my ability to catch fish. This academy taught me how to cast properly, how to tie all the necessary knots, how to identify bugs and rises and how to stalk rising trout. I highly recommend this course for anyone interested in kicking their fishing game into high gear."
"The Anglers Academy was one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life. The instructors are world class, what you learn is game changing, and the venue was ideal. I would go back tomorrow and cannot wait to bring my son one of these days."
"I left a much better, more confident angler. Most significantly, I learned how to self-analyze my cast so that I could continue to improve on my own--You've got to know WHY a good cast was good and how to correct casting mistakes."
"I could not have asked for a better course of instruction. The camaraderie that developed between instructors and students created an atmosphere that helped me improve all areas of my abilities. From knots, flies, to casting everything that was covered was clear and concise. Best of all I now have all of the tools to become a better angler."
